Botanical description
It is commonly known as Indian soapberry or washnut. It is a tree that can grow up to 25 m tall. The leaves are long stalked, and the leaflets are arranged in pairs of 5 to 10. The tree produces numerous small, greenish-white flowers. The fruit consists of round-shaped nuts that are yellowish-brown in colour and have a diameter of 2-2.5 cm. The fruit is collected during the winter months for seed and sale in the market as soap nuts.
